SKU Planning for Fightwear Brands

SKU planning is not just an admin task. It affects production orders, carton labels, website listings, warehouse receiving and reorders. A clear SKU system makes a custom range easier to manage from the first sample onward.
Build product codes from stable attributes. Category, model, size or weight, color and version can all be useful, but the system should remain readable. Avoid codes so complex that the team needs a key for every conversation.
Separate marketing names from operational codes. A glove can have a public collection name and a practical internal SKU. The internal code should help the factory and warehouse identify exactly what to produce and pack.
Version control matters when products change. If padding, fabric, fit or packaging is revised, record the change and date. This prevents old and new specifications from being mixed during reorders.
A simple SKU system gives the brand room to grow. The goal is not to create bureaucracy; it is to keep future product decisions from becoming messy.
