What Does MOQ Mean? A Buyer's Guide to Minimum Order Quantities

TitanWrap Team · 22 March 2026 · 5 min read

MOQ — minimum order quantity — is the smallest number of units a manufacturer will produce in a single production run for a given product or style. It exists because bulk manufacturing has fixed setup costs (cutting patterns, sourcing materials, configuring machinery) that only make sense to absorb across a meaningful quantity.

MOQ is usually set per style, not per order — meaning you can often combine multiple sizes or colourways of the same product to reach the minimum, rather than needing that quantity in one single size.

A lower MOQ generally means a simpler, less customized product; heavily customized items (unique materials, complex branding, non-standard construction) may carry a higher minimum because they require more dedicated setup.

When you're planning a private-label order, it helps to think in terms of styles rather than just total units — three product styles at your supplier's MOQ is a bigger commitment than one style at the same total quantity. Our team can help map out an order plan that fits your budget and the MOQ for each product you're interested in.
